My interview was with a graduate student who has his degree in personal training and a business owner himself. He fell in love with hockey growing up but never had the money to play because of how expensive it's. He grew up playing football and became a collegiate wrestler and became a personal trainer for football and eventually became a personal trainer for high collegiate and pro athletes for hockey. I became really good friends with him once he began to start training me and he's my role model because he came from nothing into a business owner and loves waking up everyday to do the job he loves. His facility consist of a full weight training area and a turf field for off ice conditioning with three ice rinks to work on our on ice skills. He consist of continuously gaining knowledge on his job to become the best he can be in his field.
Some good studying strategies he gave me was to join everything that portrays to what you wanna do when you get out of school. First not only does it help build more knowledge for that topic of study but also helps you get a better understanding for what you're currently studying. He also said to spend as much free time possible to look up other things you're interested in that topic to gain more knowledge that you have already gained from classes, not only will it make you smarter in that topic but could also clarify or learn something you may or may not have already learned in your major. His second topic that he brought up was to get more engaged in your class and ask questions because you're learning from professors who are highly educated in those areas that you're interested in and it will also help you gain more knowledge from your professors. It highly important he said to pick the brain of the people you wanna be in the near future because not only are you learning in different ways possible but you could also research those topics you're having conversations with outside of the classroom.
When we talked about finding on or off campus jobs to help build your resume he mentioned about being a shadow from off campus trainers to learn on hand information and see how they interact with their clients. He mentioned even though you may not get paid for what you're doing the information you're receiving will pay off in the future for your field you're getting into. He did say if you can get a job do something in that field because the more you build on that topic you're trying to get into the more inclined you will that get that dream job once you're out of school. When I mentioned mixers he said they're the most important thing in college because even though you might meet someone and build a network that in a field that may not interest you that network you made could lead to a job with a friend or client they know and could possibly put in a good word for you. Most of the information he mentioned was in the business articles for what you would wanna do for your future.
